Abraham Bosschaert is born in Middelburg on 16 February 1612, as the son of Ambrosius III and Maria VAN DER AST. He was buried in Utrecht on 4 April 1643.
Abraham did not share the same skills as his brothers.
His modelling and drawings look tired. It seems as though
the motif: the flower pot, which had been popular for a generation has
been exhausted. Abraham makes cliché and monotonous repetitions
of the same known composition: a mixed bouquet of tulips, roses and
a few other flowers in a vase, standing on a stone slab with a couple
of shells, or an insect, or a flower or a few fallen petals beside the
vase, and always a few drops of water of oblong elliptic form. It is
almost his signature.
Abraham lived in Middelburg, he then moved with the family to Utrecht,
and finally he lived independently in Amsterdam.
Abraham married
Margaretha VAN DER AST on the 17 April 1635. After her death he remarried with Annighje VOSCUIJL.
